Allene Millissa Jernigan-Stone, 91, of Louisville,Ky., formerly of Earlington,Ky., departed this life peacefully at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday November 25, 2025 at home in Louisville with her family and care team by her side.

A native of Greenville,Ky., she was born to the late John G. Elliott and Prenice "Necie" Shelton on December 6, 1933.

She was a member of Gough Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church in Earlington where she served faithfully as a Deaconess, a Sunday School Teacher, a Stewardess on the Steward Board, and Trustee.  Her greatest passion was serving with WH & OMS Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society.

She was lovingly called "Lene" by many of her friends and dearly called "Auntie or Ainty" by her nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her beloved nephew, Eddie Ray Gregory.  She loved traveling and has taken many trips with family, friends and church members.  She was a wonderful baker and was known for her fresh strawberry cake and for other delicious cakes she baked for family events.  She was also a great cook and has many recipes captured in community, church and family cook books that span decades.  She had a zest for life with a quick and snappy whit and enjoyed a great laugh.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Freeman Jernigan, and second husband, Miller O'Neal Stone who died on December 20, 2024; her daughter Anita Dawn Jernigan; three brothers, John G. Elliott Jr., Richard Elliott, and Samuel Elliott; and one sister, Effie Mae Forte.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, one brother, Carl "CJ" Elliott of Louisville; four grandchildren, Shaquille Jernigan of Earlington, Shamar Pettus of Louisville, Jason Jernigan of Greenville, and Brian Jernigan of Clarksville,Tn.; nephew, Eddie Ray (Christine) Gregory of Cleveland, Ohio.; one step-son, Jolly (Marie) Jernigan of Drakesboro,Ky.; nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
