Angela Delaine Hunter Smith, age 58, of Madisonville, was called home and gained her glorious wings the morning of March 14, 2022 leaving an empty bed at Madisonville Health and Rehabilitation. She went home to be with the Lord with a host of loved ones by her side.
Angela was born February 2, 1964 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Percy and Ellen Hunter. Angela was the baby sister to Percy Hunter III and Sharon Hunter Herndon. At a young age Angela along with Percy and Sharon journeyed to Madisonville where they all grew up together with no more than a couple miles between each of them even to this day.
After graduating from Madisonville North Hopkins High School, Angela started working and living life to the fullest. Her first born, Eric Miguel Hunter, was born August 1983 and motherhood for Angela was what made the world turn. Her second child, Meagan Nicole Smith (Bess) was born May of 1987 which added so much joy and happiness. Then November 1990 Jordan Hunter was born and her mother's heart was complete.
In no time at all D'Aaron Glenn Smith met and fell in love with Angela and all three of her children. Angela and D'Aaron married on July 2, 1994 and have spent the last 27 years together. D'Aaron brought with him another daughter for Angela to love Deena Wilkes.
Angela committed her life to her family. She worked multiple jobs for nearly 30 years to not only provide and take care of her family, but also to truly live life. She worked at Madisonville Marketplace early in life and the last jobs she carried was school bus driver for Hopkins County School System, where she retired from in 2020 when her health declined and also worked for the Dollar General Store.
Angela loved out loud. With a smile on her face every single day no matter what, she multi-tasked like no other. A wife, a mother, a friend, no matter the little, if she knew you, she loved you and never met a stranger.
Angela and her family attended Eastview Missionary Baptist Church. She will be missed by so many.
Angela had a ton of hobbies like her fun times with close friends, scratch off lottery tickets, court tv shows, bingo, bowling, and playing games of any kind. Always up for an adventure with family, friends, or colleagues. And her favorite hobby had to be anything she could do for her students (she called everyone her babies) on her school bus. She absolutely loved being a bus driver.
From 2009 to 2015, Angela was blessed with 4 grandchildren and was a huge part of each one of their lives always. She protected and cared for them as if they were her own lifeline and the love and admiration they have for her will carry them through life.
Angela was preceded by her mother and father, and grandparents; and step-brother Jeffery Hall.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her husband D'Aaron "Smitty" Smith of Madisonville; sons Eric (Roxanne) Hunter and Jordan Hunter both of Madisonville; daughter Meagan (Deandre) Smith-Bess of Providence; step-daughter Deena Wilkes of Madisonville; brother Percy Hunter III of Madisonville: step-brothers Terry Hall and Ronnie Hall both of Madisonville; sisters Sharon (Ricky) Herndon of Madisonville and Deborah (Meeshack) Ray of Saint Louis, Missouri; step-sisters Carolyn White of Louisville and Theresa Hall of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren Ayden Hunter, Dominick Cherrie, and Aydrainna Hunter; step-granddaughter Lazeh Wilkes; several aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
