Chassie Tramill Compton, a beloved resident of Indianapolis, IN., peacefully passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Indiana University Hospital North.
Chassie was a dedicated member of Barnes Methodist Church in Indianapolis and devoted many years of her life to serving as a nurse at Saint Vincent Hospital. Her compassionate care touched the lives of many.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Leotha Compton, and several family members: parents Thomas L. Tramill and Easter Dowdy Tramill, brothers Thomas Jr. Tramill, Lawernce Tramill, and Roland Johnson, as well as sisters Syrill Gilbert, Alma Wilson, Lelia Barnes, Christine Sweatt, and Patricia Chester.
Surviving Chassie is her son, Kevin (Joan) Compton of Indianapolis. She is also survived by sisters Ella Woolfolk, Lillian Willingham, and Barbara Harris, all of Henderson, KY., along with Etta Ridens of Radcliff, KY., and Virginia Harris of Virginia.
Chassie's legacy lives on through her two granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Chassie's life will take place on Saturday, November 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.
This gathering will serve as a heartfelt tribute to a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
