Elizabeth Yarbrough, age 87, of Madisonville, formerly of Warren, Michigan, passed away peacefully at 7:42 a.m. Monday September 19, 2022 at her home.
Born August 22, 1935 a native of Lauderdale, County Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Willie Durr and Omie Shoemake Durr.
She had worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Detroit, Michigan and was a self-employed business owner and entrepreneur. She was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. She loved traveling, cooking, painting, and watching Court-TV shows. Most of all she loved her family.
She also was preceded in death by her loving husband William H. Yarbrough; a daughter Angelia Yarbrough; two brothers Willie Durr Jr. and Lynn Durr; and a sister Bernice Durr.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories two sons Aaron Yarbrough of Detroit, Michigan and William (Velma) Yarbrough of Madisonville; a daughter Debra Ulmer of Laurel, Mississippi; one brother Lorenzo (Paula) Harris of Columbus, Mississippi; three sisters Lucinda Chaney of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mary (Robert) Benjamin of Detroit, Michigan, and Edna (Howard) Birdsong of Detroit, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Private services for the family will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday September 26, 2022 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The Reverend Maurice Webb will officiate.
