Eric Hunter Obituary

Eric Miguel Hunter, age 38, of Madisonville, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday March 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 30, 1983, a native of Madisonville, he was the son of the late Jonah Bell Sr. and Angela Hunter Smith.

Early in life he had attended Christ Church Holiness in Madisonville and later visited First Assembly of God in Madisonville.  He was employed with Carhartt Distribution Center in Hanson where he worked for over 15 years as a union steward and picker; was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School where he played in the band, member of the Chamber Choir, and a member of the Navy Junior ROTC.  He served as an assistant coach for little league football, T- ball, and soccer at the Madisonville Hopkins County Family YMCA.  He loved all sports but was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan.  He loved watching NFL football, the Atlanta Braves baseball, and Houston Rockets basketball.  He also loved playing fantasy football with his friends and had 7 teams.

The community loved him.  He had an outgoing personality, had many friends, and was a best friend to all.  He never met a stranger and always had a smile out of this world like his mother.

He said he knew the Lord when he was sick and his children and family were his greatest passion and love.

He was preceded in death by his father Jonah Bell Sr. who died on July 10, 2021 and his mother Angela Hunter Smith who died on March 14, 2022; and by a sister Jameaka Thomas.

He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories his loving and devoted wife of 13 1/2 years Roxanne Cook Hunter of Madisonville, but they had been together for 19 years; a son Ayden Miguel Hunter and daughter Aydrianna Michele Hunter both of Madisonville; brothers Jordan Hunter of Madisonville, Jonah Bell II of Atlanta, GA., Kevin (Nikki) Chambers of Milwaukee, WI.; sisters Meagan (DeAndre) Smith-Bess of Providence, Chanel Bell, Chantel Bell, and Nichole Wyckoff all of Madisonville, and Tracey Parham of Louisville; a step-sister Deena Wilkes of Madisonville; his step-father D'Aaron "Smitty" Smith of Madisonville; father and mother-in-law Kenny and Sandra Cook of Dawson Springs; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday April 1 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel.  Evangelist Sherri Wilson will officiate.  Burial will be in Elliott Memorial Gardens in Madisonville.  Visitation and wake services will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Masks are required upon entry.
