George Rodger Hazelwood, age 92, of Henderson, passed away peacefully at 9:00 a.m. Friday November 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
A native of Basket Station, Kentucky, he was born to the late Ira Hazelwood and Zalle Carter Hazelwood on March 11, 1931.
He was a member of New Race Creek Baptist Church in Henderson where he served faithfully as a custodian. He retired from Alcan Aluminum Plant in Sebree, Kentucky after 30 years as a Senior Land Field Operator, and was a member of the Elks Club and Masonic St. John Lodge #4 of Henderson.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years Rosette Agnew Hazelwood; one son George Ira Hazelwood; one daughter Ethel Hazelwood; four brothers Edward Hazelwood, Allois Cabel, Robert Hazelwood, and Graham Hazelwood Sr.; and five sisters Ethel Gilbert, Laura Hill, Elizabeth Bushrod, Juanita Tapp, and Mattie Hazelwood.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories five sons James Hazelwood of Henderson, Jerry (Wanda) Hazelwood and Robert Hazelwood both of Evansville, Roger (Russette) Hazelwood of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kenneth (Lorie) Hazelwood of Savannah, Georgia; four daughters Carolyn Dejarnett of Henderson, Shirley Crenshaw of Evansville, Patricia Harris of Indianapolis, Indiana and Barbara Dejarnett of Evansville; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday November 10, 2023 at New Race Creek Baptist Church in Henderson.
Pastor Rickey Jay will officiate.
Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
Visitation and wake services will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
