Harold Wayne Gilbert

Harold Wayne Gilbert was born March 19,1959 in Henderson,Ky., the son of the late Henry Lee Gilbert Jr. and Ethel Hazelwood Gilbert. 

The Lord called him to his heavenly home at 3:18 p.m. on Friday July 15,2022  at the age of 63 years, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  

He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Walnut Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He attended the Henderson School system, and later earned his Graduate Equivalency Diploma. 

Wayne was an outstanding basketball player in school.  He enjoyed playing on the JF Kennedy courts.  Wayne loved the great outdoors.  You could always find him in the midst of friends smiling and joking. He lived his life to the fullest. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother James Russel Keye, one sister Shirley Keye Anglin. 

He leaves behind to cherish loving memories a daughter Tomika Fortune of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grandson DeLafette Joiner;  two brothers Clyde Gilbert of Henderson and Terry Lee Gilbert of University City, Missouri;  two sisters Donna Denise Peden and husband James E. of Henderson and Henrietta G. Harris and husband James B.,of Owensboro;  one loving uncle George Hazelwood of Henderson;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.

Private funeral services for family only will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 21 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel in Madisonville.  The Reverend Ricky Hill will officiate.  Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.  

There will be no public visitation.
