James Douglas Sharp, 71, of Springfield, Massachusetts, formerly of Madisonville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at 2:00 a.m. on Monday May 4 ,2026 at Life Care of Acton, Massachusetts.
A native of Madisonville, he was born to the late George Phillip Sharp and Lula Ophelia Sharp on July 24, 1954.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers ,Charles Martin and Gary Sharp; and by three sisters, Georgia Campbell , Joanne Sharp, and Connie Sharp.
James was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and working on cars and was a member of Branch Street Church of God in Christ while living in Madisonville.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories three sons, Kyron Sharp of Madisonville, and Santino Sharp and Larry Hall both of Springfield; two sisters, Stacia Sharp Mayes of Madisonville and Vanessa (Wayne) Huff of Hope Mills, North Carolina; one brother, Donnie (Brenda) Sharp of Madisonville; one aunt Bobbie Jo and Uncle Calvin Reaves of Cleveland,Ohio; four grandchildren, Ta’kiyah Sharp, Kyra Casey, Kyron Sharp Jr. and Harmony Sharp; two great grandchildren, Jakari and Jakyah Burt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services for James Douglas Sharp will be held graveside at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday May 24, 2026 at Elliott Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Madisonville.
There will be no services held at the funeral home.
Elliott-Bowles Mortuary in Madisonville, Kentucky is overseeing his local arrangements.
