Marva Louis (Bacon) Jones

Marva Louis Bacon Jones, age 80, of Evansville, Indiana and formerly of Henderson, Kentucky passed away peacefully at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday June 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Born May 1, 1942  a native of Henderson, she was the daughter of the late Webster Bacon and Louella Carr. 

She was a faithful member of Seventh Street Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson where she sang in the choir, was a retired retail services worker with Osco Drugs and Service Merchandise, a volunteer educator for many years with C.K. Newsome Community Center in Evansville, a graduate of ITT Technical College in Evansville, and graduate of Douglas High School in Henderson.  She raised seven children and was like a neighborhood mother to many more children, was self-sacrificing to serve others, and loved cooking. 

She also was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Douglas Gregory Jones and her first husband James Douglas Ringo; and by two sisters Corzetta Winstead and Georgianna Pollard. 

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories sons Terrance Ringo Sr., Eric Ringo, and Brett Ringo all of Evansville and a step-son Patrick Brown of Bakersfield, California; daughters Stephanie Roby and Marvita Eldridge both of Evansville, Karen (Leon) Coleman of Arlington, Texas and Rhonda (Santae Jr.) Wilson of Irving, Texas; first cousins Gwendolyn Johnson of Henderson and Keith Williams of Louisville, Kentucky; a cousin who was like a daughter Holly Johnson Blue of Spokane, Washington; two loyal family friends for many years Todd Eldridge and Nathan Duncan both of Evansville; 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, and friends. 

Her life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 9 at Seventh Street Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.  The Reverend Gayla Gilbert will be eulogist. 

Visitation and wake services will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
