Prince Woolfolk Obituary

Elder Prince Wilbert Woolfolk, age 87, of Henderson, entered into his eternal rest at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday December at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.  He was born on December 30, 1932 in Henderson to the late Early Edward Woolfolk and Annie Mae Negley Woolfolk.  He accepted Christ at the age of eight and was reclaimed in 1961.  He received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Elder and Missionary Jesse Murkinson.  He attended Corydon Church of God in Christ under the pastorage of Elder Roy Davis and later Elder John Posey, and went on to pastor Branch Street Church of God in Christ.   A true servant of God he was ordained in August 1966 by Bishop A.T. Moore.  Appointed State Evangelist of Kentucky First Jurisdiction in 1969.  His first appointment as Pastor was at Old Tabernacle - 13th & Zane Street in Louisville,Ky. in 1970 and Branch Street Church of God in Christ in 1971 in Madisonville,Ky.  He served briefly, about a year, at Dean Memorial Church of God in Christ in Drakesboro,Ky.  In 1974, he was appointed Kentucky First Jurisdictional Administrative Assistant.  During a tent meeting in Owensboro,Ky. in 1979 Elder Woolfolk, Mother W.D. Vaughn, Elder Theodore Thomas preached out Seventh Street Church of God in Christ.  Elder Woolfolk was assigned as Pastor.  He served as President of the Evangelist Board and State Treasurer.  He was an evangelist by heart in which he conducted tent services all across the state of Kentucky including in the cities of Lexington, Frankfort, Covington, Bowling Green, Paducah, and Mayfield.  He hosted many workers meetings and holy convocations at his churches and recognized Elder William Drake III, not only as a son in the gospel, but also as a faithful up and coming leader in the church.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, local family businessman with former Woolfolk's Bar-b-que, attended historic African American Douglas High School in Henderson where he played basketball; and loved fishing, hunting, and golfing.  He also was preceded in death by four brothers Joe Woolfolk, James Woolfolk, Otis Woolfolk, and David Woolfolk; two sisters Ida L. Thomas and Etta Mae Johnson; and one child in infancy Verbal Woolfolk.  He leaves behind to cherish fond memories his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Ella Beatrice Tramill Woolfolk of Henderson; a daughter Tonya Woolfolk of Louisville; a brother Bobby (Rosetta) Woolfolk of Dallas,Texas; and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins, and friends.  His life will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Monday December 21, 2020 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel in Madisonville.  The Elder Ira Greg Hathaway will officiate.  Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.  Military Honors will be performed graveside by the 101st Airborne Division of Fort Campbell,Ky. and American Legion Post 40 of Henderson.  Due to ongoing Covid-19 ongoing restrictions, his visitation and wake services will be a walk-thru from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.  Facial coverings will be required.
