Ralph Hester Jr.

Ralph Hester Jr., age 81, of Providence, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at 4:39 p.m. Sunday January 15, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. 

Born November 13, 1941, a native of  Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Ralph Hester Sr. and Florence Pitts Sorina. 

He attended Zion Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta under the pastorage of Pastor Aaron L. Parker and where he served as a member of the choir. 

He was a former police officer with the Bellwood Police Department in Bellwood, Illinois, recent retiree from Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois as a security guard, and graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor Degree.

He was a talented musician playing the saxophone and flute, and his other hobbies included playing golf and sewing. 

He will be fondly missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Hester Benjamin; a brother Larry Bernard Hester; and a sister Jean Yvonne Hester.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories two brothers George Sorina Jr. of Providence, Kentucky and Ronald Sorina of Mayfield, Kentucky; one aunt Lesterine Britt of Atlanta; and several cousins. 

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Ralph Hester Jr. will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday January 24 at Elliott-Bowles Mortuary in Madisonville.  

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
