Revella Woolfolk Brooks, age 79, of Providence, passed away peacefully at 10:31 a.m. Thursday November 2, 2023 at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital-West in Nashville, Tennessee with her family by her side.
Born May 3, 1944, a native of Providence, she was born to the late Virgil Woolfolk and Minnie Hampton Woolfolk.
She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Providence where she served as Ambassador of the Pleasant Hill Mission Circle and Culinary Director. She was a Pass Worthy Matron for Ruth Chapter #26 and Pass Illustrious Commandress Rajah Court #58 2016.
She retired after 35 years from General Electric Aviation Plant (GE) in Madisonville where she worked as a Laser Operator and served as Union Vice-President, was a graduate of historic African American Rosenwald High School in Providence, and loved cooking, playing bingo, collecting coins and cards (old money etc.).
Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by three brothers Everett Woolfolk, Larry Woolfolk, and Louis Woolfolk; and five sisters Joyce Belle, Shirley Young, Osie Broady, Sandra Battle, and Paula Franklin.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her husband of 10 years Calbert Brooks of Providence; one son George (Stacy) Woolfolk of Nashville; four daughters Sherri (Wesley) Starks of Providence, Stacey Woolfolk of Providence, Velda Nichols of Madisonville, and Daina Woolfolk of Madisonville; one brother Louis (Patrice) Allen of Providence; two sisters Shelia (Rev. Bobby) Hawkins of Providence and Valerie (James) Hyde of Union City, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday November 11, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Pastor Paris Johnson will officiate.
Burial will be in Williams Lawn Cemetery in Providence.
Visitation and wake services will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday November 10, 2023 and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
