Richard Jerome Lewis, 69, of Madisonville, passed away peacefully at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday March 19, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana with his family by his side.
A native of Madisonville, he was born to the late Imogene Lewis on October 3, 1954.
He was an active member of Lively Stone Church of God in Nortonville where he served faithfully in many capacities including as Armour Bearer to the pastors, sound booth technician, usher, door greeter, bus driver, culinary team assistant, one of the church's local broadcast ministers, assistant to the baptism team, choir member, lawn care and landscaper around the church, and as a musician (playing the cowbell).
He was willing to serve in any ministry and was valuable to the Kingdom of God. His favorite songs were "I'm a soldier in the Army of the Lord" and "He's an on time God, Yes he is".
Richard was currently employed with Tyson Foods in Robards, Kentucky where he had worked for 20 years, was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School where he played baseball and basketball, was a bodybuilder at the YMCA and bodybuilder mentor, winner of many bodybuilding state championships, and was well known at Workout Anytime in Madisonville.
He was a faithful son to his mother while she was living and would always be seen taking her places around town. He loved his sister and his entire family as well.
He is survived by his sister Debra Fowlkes of Westland, Michigan; and a host of cousins and friends.
His life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 28, 2024 at Lively Stone Church of God in Nortonville.
Bishop Lee Scott (Presiding Prelate) will officiate. Pastor Joseph Horton will be eulogist.
Burial will be in Elliott Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation and wake services will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday March 27, 2024 at Elliott-Bowles Mortuary and after 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
The service will be live-streamed beginning at 12:45 p.m. central time Thursday March 28, 2024 on Elliott-Bowles Mortuary facebook page.
