Ronald Ray Baker, 72, of Earlington, passed away peacefully at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday January 15, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.
A native of Earlington, he was born to the late Edward Arthur Baker and Lucille Young Baker on October 23, 1952.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Earlington, a retired coal miner with Patriot Coal Company in Henderson County, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and attended Earlington High School where he played basketball. He also was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars, and playing his music (rock and roll).
He also was preceded in death by his daughter Tonya Hayes Davis, grandson Triston LaMarr Hayes, brother Thomas Baker, and sister Linda Baker Mason.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memories one son Terrance Greer; brother Herman (Denise) Baker of Earlington; uncle Bill (Faye) Yates of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughter Shanise Goodwin; grandsons Ian Taylor and Elijah Davis both of Madisonville, Myles (Madison) Davis of Hopkinsville; great-granddaughters Audrey Taylor and Baela Belt; great-grandson Mycah Davis; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and also by his caregiver and mother of their deceased daughter Tonya, Karen Hayes of Madisonville.
His life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 22, 2025 at Elliott-Bowles Mortuary Chapel.
The Reverend Terrance Minor will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington.
Visitation and wake services will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
