Ruthlyn Baxter Obituary

Ruthlyn Resha Lovan Baxter, age 64, of Madisonville, departed this life peacefully at 9:34 a.m. on Saturday April 1, 2023 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. 

Born March 23, 1959 a native of Hopkinsville, she was the daughter of the late Al Lovan and Birdie Lee Lovan Johnson. 

She was a member of Lively Stone Church of God in Nortonville and worked for Outwood/ResCare/Community Alternative of Kentucky as a residential coordinator for the Madisonville branch. She was a business entrepreneur and property manager.  Her hobbies included building ceramics, decorating, cooking, refurbishing furniture, making quilts, prom, and wedding dresses, hairstyling, playing video games, and making DVD memorial tribute videos for the families of Elliott-Bowles Mortuary.  She attended South Hopkins High School. 

Her greatest love was spending time with her three daughters, sisters and brothers, grandchildren, and extended family. 

In addition to her parents  Al Lovan and Birdie Lee Lovan Johnson, she also was preceded in death by her birth parents Hatcher Hughes and Phyllis Ann Drone Bell. 

She leaves behind to cherish loving memories her husband Ronald Ray Baxter of Madisonville; three daughters Danielle (Jewell) Stafford and Stephanie Baxter both of Madisonville, and Michelle (Robert) Bussell of Hopkinsville; three brothers Jeffrey (Cynthia) Hughes of Madisonville, Anthony (Revonda) Bell of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, and Immanuel (Tiffany) Hughes of Louisville; five sisters Phyllis Stone of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sonja (Garland) Collins of Hanson, Bridgitt (Carlos) White of Madisonville, Shelly (Lloyd) Brewer of Fishers, Indiana, and Ella Bell of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her step-father Thomas Bell of Dayton, Ohio; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 8 at Elliott-Bowles Mortuary Chapel in Madisonville.

Pastor Sherry Mitchell will officiate.
