Supervisor Emerita Mother Bernice Jones Obituary

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Supervisor Emerita Mother Bernice Jones transitioned this life on the morning of January 19, 2024.

She is the Wife of the late Superintendent Willie Jones and former First Lady of The House of Refuge Church of God in Christ in Bowling Green, Kentucky (1979-2007), Lifeline Temple Church of God in Christ in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (1980-2007) and New Life Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Radcliff, Kentucky (2007-2012). She served these ministries faithfully for approximately 44 years. Mother Jones was the Assistant Supervisor to the late Jurisdictional Mother Jean Wright for 38 years and would be elevated in 2005 as the official fourth serving Jurisdictional Supervisor for Kentucky First Jurisdiction. Mother Jones served faithfully in her role as State Mother until her eventual retirement in 2010. Her distinguished collage of works include tenures as the Jurisdictional Sunday School Field Representative and District Missionary co-laboring under the leadership of five District Superintendents. Mother Jones was faithful and committed in all areas of ministry and served with exemplary distinction under the leadership of the late Bishop A.T. Moore as local Usher Board President, Pastor's Aide, Kitchen Committee, Hospitality Worker, Teacher of the Young Women Christian Council and Sunday School Superintendent.

One of her most cherished accomplishments and greatest loves was simply that of Mom to her ten children: Michael (Teressa) Jones, Sharon (Upshaw) Briggs, Ivy Moore, Pastor Cedric (Pancy) Jones, Andrea (Pastor Carl) Singleton, Alan (Emma) Jones, Michelle (Thomas) Johnson, Robert (Consuella) Jones, Berniece Nyarko and Christina Jones, including twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Mother Jones is most affectionately known for her sermonic delivery of true holiness, conviction and commitment to sanctification as well as her feminine style of pure elegance and grace. Mother Jones' plethora of works will live on in the hearts of the many lives that were touched by her unwavering ministry. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
