Timothy Dewayne "Pearl" Whitsell, 63, of Madisonville, passed away peacefully at 11:40 a.m. Saturday September 14, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville with his family by his side.
A native of Madisonville and affectionately called "Pearl" by many of his family and friends, he was born to the late John A. Whitsell and Willie Dee Johnson Whitsell on August 28, 1961.
He was a faithful member of Red Oak Outreach Ministries in Madisonville under the leadership of Pastor Shelia Carter where he served faithfully as a Deacon, Vice-President of the General Board, and as President of the Men's Department.
He served on the City of Madisonville Tourism Board, Salvation Army Board of Directors in Madisonville, and as President for the Hopkins County Chapter of the NAACP for over 4 years and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Hopkins County Youth Coalition, member of the Rosenwald-Smith MultiCultural Center Board of Directors in Madisonville, and served as a mentor for boys at Larry Carney Center in Madisonville.
He was a former police officer for the City of Earlington Police Department, Masonic Lodge member, and volunteer at the Christian Food Bank in Madisonville.
He was a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School where he played basketball, attended the University of Louisville and was an avid University of Louisville Cardinals fan.
He loved watching NBA basketball and NFL football, and loved all sports in general.
In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by one daughter, Tameisha Jones and by one brother, John Wesley Whitsell.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 42 years, Beverly Bolden Whitsell of Madisonville; one son, Courtney Jamal Whitsell of Madisonville; three daughters, Patoreia Mackey of Madisonville, Terayia Farley of Atlanta, Georgia, and LaFatima (Jeremy) Starkey of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Ruthie Hendrix of Madisonville, Rhonda Unseld of Louisville, Barbara Whitsell of Madisonville, Helen Gregory of Madisonville, and Wanda (James) Thompson of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Noah Nichols, Isaiah Nichols, Jaylen Mackey, Jalihl Mackey, Jasiah Mackey, and Zarayia Rosselle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial services to Celebrate Tim's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday September 21, 2024 at Rosenwald-Smith Multicultural Center in MadisoRobert
Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Navy Military Honor Guard.
Elder Robert Carter III will officiate with Pastor Shelia Carter will eulogize.
