Tonya Darlene Cosby, 64, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at 12:20 p.m. Sunday August 24, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana with her family being by her bedside.
A native of Henderson, she was born to the late Leonis Cosby Sr. and Charlesetta Boone Cosby on October 30, 1960.
She was affectionately called "Darlene" by many of her family and friends and had attended Branch Street Church of God in Christ in Madisonville, Kentucky in her earlier years and First Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson in her later years, and was employed with Gamco Manufacturing Company in Henderson where she had worked for many years.
She was a graduate of Henderson County High School where she played basketball and softball and had pursued a higher education at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma.
She had an outgoing personality and loved being around family and friends talking, laughing, and having fun, and enjoyed cooking and fishing.
She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Cosby Sr. and Leonis Cosby Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories, her son, Alphonzo Cosby of Atlanta, Georgia; her god-daughter, Heather Armstead of Henderson; one brother, Steve Cosby of Henderson; two sisters, Brenda (Dean) Cosby Anderson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Gayle Cosby Smith of Henderson; a step-sister, Vicky (James) Hickerson of Henderson; and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Darlene's life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 30, 2025 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson.
Pastor James Hickerson will be eulogize.
Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
Visitation and wake services will be from 12:00 p.m. until servce time Saturday at the church.
