Willer Vaughn Obituary

Evangelist Missionary Willer Dean Vaughn, age 96, of Cecilia, Kentucky and formerly of Madisonville, passed away peacefully at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday July 19, 2022 at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  

Born October 23, 1925 a native of Madisonville, she was the daughter of the late McKinley Vaughn and Augustine Day Vaughn.  

She served faithfully in the Church of God in Christ as a member, evangelist and missionary, and also was a former member of Victory Church in Madisonville.  

She was saved at the age of 9 in October 1934 under Pastor Chester Graham at Lunsford Street Church of God in Christ. Overseer R. R. Booker, Kentucky State Overseer, and Mother S. Metcalf, Supervisor of Women. 

Mother begins to work: singing in the choir, church secretary, announcer for the weekly Sunday Night Radio Broadcast, Primary Sunday School teacher, Sunshine Band Teacher, Elect Lady of the Evangelist Department, First YWCC State President, YPWW Chair Lady under Superintendent V. Sanders, and President of the Supervisor's Advisory Board.

In 1981, Bishop Moore appointed her as one of the Executive Staff Committee Members to aid Supervisor Mother Wright and became the President of the Advisory Board.

During her evangelist work, she has traveled to many states running revivals, working out a church in Drakesboro, and working closely with the Evangelism Department in Owensboro and others. She is a member of New Life Tabernacle Church of God in Christ under Pastor Cedric Jones.

Mother has been under 5 Bishops, Overseer Elder R. R. Booker, Elder Chester Graham, Bishop A.T. Moore, Bishop Dwight Haygood, Bishop John W. Fleming, and 5 State Supervisor, Mother F. Peak, Mother S. Metcalf, Mother J. Wright, Mother B. Jones, and Mother Stallworth.

She also was preceded in death by her brothers Roy H. Vaughn and James H. Vaughn; her sisters Goldie Baxter, Ruby  Fort, and Ann Suebella Joyce.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her niece and caregiver Pancy (Pastor Cedric) Jones of Cecilia; her brother-in-law Elder Ernest (Paulette) Joyce of Madisonville; and Ann Day Fleming of Clarksville, Tn. whom she raised like a sister; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her life will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. central time Saturday July 23 at Victory Church located at 615 Brown Road in Madisonville.  Pastor Cedric Jones will eulogize.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Madisonville.  Visitation and wake services will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.  The service will be live-streamed on Elliott Mortuary Madisonville facebook page beginning at 12:00 p.m. central time.
